D for Dancing

The morning was grey and dark. She had not slept. In her pajama she walked slowly into the living room. Dirty plates from yesterday's dinner greeted her from the dining table. She ignored them and sat down by the window staring blankly out in the garden. Empty. Misty. Dark dark shadows everywhere.

Then she decided. Enough is enough. With a determination that surprised her, she got up and turned on the music. Oh, that song. That song. She could feel the energy of it starting to fill her up. From head to toe. Her blood felt bubbly and her body started moving. First a bit hesitant, and then the rhythm just took her away. She was waving her head, jumping, head-banging in the air, waving her arms, shaking her butt, jumping higher and higher. And laughing. Laughing louder and louder while the music filled her up and she was dancing and dancing. And dancing.

She saw herself mirrored in the windows. Her hair was a mess, her face had turned red, her clothes was all over the place and yet she had not seen a brighter smile for a long long time. She looked happy. And she was.

What part does dancing have in your life? Please share.

  12. Of course dancing is something that infuses new energy within. Its a transient respite from all kind of tensions and frustrations - at least for me.

  14. Dancing is tonic for the soul. I am, by no means, a good dancer but, I enjoy moving to music and filling up with energy and love for the moment. My two daughters love to dance, too. It makes me so happy to see their wild abandon whenever the mood strikes and the songs play and the singing starts. To dance is to feel joy and to taste freedom. Thanks for writing such an uplifting post. Love the photo of the lady and her shadow dancing so joyfully. :)

  20. "Dancing is like dreaming with your feet." Oh, I love that! Perfectly said only felt from one dancer to the other! I don't do ballet or anything like that, but I do love to dance. I close my eyes and let the music infiltrate me and many times, I tear up while I do. <3
