That's what friends are for

Through rain, through sun, for good, for bad
just by your side - happy or sad

oh, what a joy to spend a day
with friends like that, what can I say

to sit there on a mountain top,
to cry, talk, giggle - all non stop

the air is crisp, the sun is bright
the sky is blue, no clouds in sight

what a blessing to have friends like that
they lift you up, you feel all set

because you know them, they know you
they speak the truth, and you do too

they stick around, are family
a sisterhood of sanity

and blessings goes to them today
warm heartfelt thanks - what can I say

That's what friends are for

Always by your side

Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who wants you in theirs, the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile, who support you and who loves you no matter what. Here's to those treasures, your wing-women, your friends.

That's what friends are for:

  4. Dearest Eli,
Yes, we all need friends for our support network and also for falling back onto if needed...
Life is never just one smooth ride and the older you get the more you figure that out. But it also teaches us to enjoy each day, with its little things of beauty that come on our path. THAT's the secret to happiness. There is no big thing like complete happiness. Nobody can stay that long on cloud nine. Life means we have to get our hands dirty too, a nice clean, romantic home is fine but it takes hands for making it clean and looking romantic.
A big hug for the coming dark days. For me the most difficult time... that's the price we pay for having lived and worked in the tropics. YES, we got spoiled for being able to skip three winters; I know but I'm too weak for getting over that WINTER thing...

    1. Oh, that is so wonderfully said dear Mariette - yes, the little things of beauty - to enjoy each day. The most important thing, and I love how you express that in your blog. Thanks for sharing and for your kind words. Sending you warm hugs back in this cold winter time.

  10. Such an amazing poem, Eli. Friends are like the siblings we never had. My friends are my strength and the moment I lose them, I cease to exist. My strength.

  13. Eli, these lines :
Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who wants you in theirs, the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile, who support you and who loves you no matter what. Here's to those treasures, your wing-women, your friends.

They mirror everything I believe about friendship and friends.
